A heated 48V deep-cycle LiFePO4 battery for off-grid, solar, RV, van and boat house power, with Bluetooth monitoring and Victron GX communication.
The Epoch 48V 125Ah Essential Series (model 48125A-COMM) stores 6.40kWh (6,400Wh nominal, 51.2V) in one battery. It delivers and accepts up to 150A continuously, supplies 300A for up to 10 seconds for start-up surges, uses incoming charger current to heat its cells so it can charge in freezing weather, balances its 16 cells with a 2A active balancer, and reports to the Epoch Li-Ion app over Bluetooth and to Victron Cerbo GX and Ekrano GX devices over CAN. Each battery weighs 110 lb in a 25.2 × 9.65 × 8.66 in IP54 case, and up to 15 can be connected in parallel.
Key Features
-
48V 125Ah Essential Series LiFePO4 (6.40kWh): Heated 48V deep-cycle power for off-grid and solar storage, RV, van and boat house power, golf carts and backup systems, storing 6,400Wh (nominal, 51.2V) in one battery built for a dry, protected location.
-
Victron CAN Comms: Reports to a Victron Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX over CAN-bus. With DVCC on, the GX applies the battery's charge voltage limit and discharge current limit to the Victron chargers and inverter chargers, and the battery's integrated shunt supplies state of charge, so a separate battery monitor is not required. Linked batteries select a master automatically, with no DIP switches or addresses, and the GX shows the whole bank as one battery.
-
Both Communication Cables Included: In the box with the battery are a battery-to-battery communication cable for linking RS485-OUT to the next battery's RS485-IN, and a master battery-to-Victron CAN cable that runs from the CAN port of Battery 1 (the first battery in the chain) to the GX's BMS-Can or VE.Can 2 port. Make only one CAN connection per bank.
-
High-Output Power Delivery: 150A maximum continuous discharge and 300A peak for up to 10 seconds for start-up surges from inverters, motors and compressors. At 51.2V, 150A is about 7,680W of DC power before inverter losses; size the system by the inverter's DC input current, not its AC output, and keep any load lasting longer than 10 seconds at or below 150A.
-
150A Charging, 48V LiFePO4 Profile: Accepts up to 150A continuous charge from all sources combined, with up to 62.5A (0.5C) recommended. Program every source for 48V LiFePO4: 56.8V–57.6V bulk/absorption, float 54.0V–55.2V or off (preferred), equalization and temperature compensation disabled, and never program a charge voltage above 57.6V (58.0V is the maximum charge voltage).
-
Heated for Cold-Weather Charging: Rated to charge from -30°C to 55°C (-22°F to 131°F) with internal heating. When the cells reach 0°C (32°F), the BMS stops charging and sends the incoming charge current from a connected charger (at least 0.5A) to the internal heating pads, never stored battery energy; charging resumes automatically when the cells reach 5°C (41°F). Discharge is rated from -20°C to 55°C (-4°F to 131°F).
-
Bluetooth Monitoring: The Epoch Li-Ion app for iOS and Android shows state of charge, voltage, current, temperature and protection status, and switches charging and discharging on or off independently. While the POWER button has discharge switched off, the app cannot switch discharge on or off, and neither the app nor the button is a means of isolation; for storage or service, open a DC disconnect or remove the battery cables.
-
2A Active Cell Balancing: Moves charge between the 16 cells whenever their voltages differ by more than 0.015V, keeping them matched without user intervention.
-
Smart BMS Protection: Built-in protection against overcharge, over-discharge, over-current, short circuit and high or low temperature, with an integrated shunt (0.2A accuracy on discharge) for state of charge. It does not replace correctly sized fuses or breakers.
-
Parallel Expansion, No Series: Up to 15 matched 48125A-COMM batteries in parallel (1,875Ah / 96.00kWh at 51.2V). Series wiring is not approved for this model.
-
IP54 Rated ABS Case: Dust-protected and splash-resistant, 25.2 × 9.65 × 8.66 in (640 × 245 × 220 mm), 110 lb (50 kg). IP54 is not waterproof: install it upright in a dry, protected location, and do not submerge it, pressure wash it or mount it where standing water can collect.
-
7,000+ Cycle Life & 11-Year Limited Warranty: Rated for 7,000+ cycles with no watering or acid service, and covered by an 11-year limited warranty (3 years of free replacement, then 40% off MSRP on a replacement battery through Year 11) against qualifying defects in materials and workmanship. Register within 90 days or keep your proof of purchase.

Run 48V Inverter Systems on 150A Continuous Power
One 51.2V battery for 48V inverter chargers, solar banks and golf-cart controllers.
This 48V 125Ah LiFePO4 battery delivers and accepts up to 150A continuously. At 51.2V, 150A is about 7,680W of DC power before inverter losses. Size the system by the inverter's DC input current, not its AC output: it must stay within 150A per battery, and the AC output is lower because of conversion losses.
The 300A peak rating covers start-up surges from inverters, motors and compressors for up to 10 seconds; any load that lasts longer must stay at or below 150A. Set the inverter's low-voltage shutdown above the bottom of the operating range (41.6V) so the inverter stops before the BMS disconnects the battery, and use chargers, inverters, fuses and switches rated for a 48V (51.2V nominal) LiFePO4 system, up to 58.0V while charging.
Charger-Powered Internal Heating
Internal heating pads let the battery charge in freezing weather, for a charge temperature range of -30°C to 55°C (-22°F to 131°F) with internal heating. When the cells reach 0°C (32°F), the BMS stops charging and uses the incoming charge current to power the heater; charging resumes automatically when the cells reach 5°C (41°F). The heater runs only while a charger is connected and supplying at least 0.5A, and it never uses the battery's stored energy. Discharging works down to -20°C (-4°F) without heating.
Victron CAN, Battery Linking & Bluetooth
Connected to a Victron Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX over CAN-bus with DVCC on, the battery reports its state of charge, voltages, temperatures and alarms, and sends the charge voltage and discharge current limits that the Victron chargers and inverter chargers follow. Use the BMS-Can port on a Cerbo GX MK1, or VE.Can 2 set to 500 kbit/s on a Cerbo GX MK2 or Ekrano GX. Batteries in a bank link through their RS485 ports and select a master automatically, with no DIP switches or addresses, and the GX shows the linked bank as one battery. Over Bluetooth, the Epoch Li-Ion app for iOS and Android shows state of charge, voltage, current, temperature and protection status.
Both Communication Cables Included
Both data cables come in the box. The battery-to-battery communication cable links RS485-OUT on one battery to RS485-IN on the next, so a bank shares data down the chain. The master battery-to-Victron CAN cable connects the CAN port of Battery 1 to the GX's BMS-Can or VE.Can 2 port; make only one CAN connection per bank. Fit the caps on all unused ports. If more length is needed, a standard Cat 7 Ethernet patch cable can be used between the battery's CAN port and the GX port.
Expandable, Protected, and Built for the Long Haul
Expand to 15 batteries in parallel: up to 1,875Ah and 96.00kWh at 51.2V.
The 110 lb (50 kg) battery measures 25.2 × 9.65 × 8.66 in (640 × 245 × 220 mm) in an ABS plastic case with threaded red (+) and black (-) terminals and end handles for lifting. Its IP54 enclosure is dust-protected and splash-resistant but not waterproof, so install it upright in a dry, protected location. Up to 15 matched 48125A-COMM batteries can be connected in parallel; series connection is not approved for this model.
2A active balancing engages when cell voltages differ by more than 0.015V, keeping the 16 cells matched without user intervention, and the built-in smart BMS protects against overcharge, over-discharge, over-current, short circuit and high or low temperature. The battery is rated for 7,000+ cycles and carries an 11-year limited warranty (3 years of free replacement, then 40% off MSRP on a replacement battery through Year 11) against qualifying defects in materials and workmanship. Register within 90 days or keep your proof of purchase.

IP54 splash-resistant protection
Dust-protected and splash-resistant, for dry, protected installations. Not waterproof.
Under IEC 60529, IP54 means dust-protected (5) and protected against splashing water from any direction (4). The enclosure is not waterproof: it is not designed for submersion, pressure washing, bilge flooding or continuous water exposure. Install the battery in a dry, protected location, do not mount it where standing water can collect around the case or terminals, and keep the caps fitted on unused data ports to keep out dust and water.
Why upgrade to Epoch LiFePO4?
Flat voltage. Long cycle life. No watering or acid service.
Compared with lead-acid batteries, LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) chemistry gives a flat voltage curve, long cycle life and maintenance-free service. The 48125A-COMM needs no watering or acid service, and its built-in battery management system monitors the cells and disconnects them when operating limits are exceeded. Routine inspections of the case, terminals, cables and charger settings still apply.
Fitment and installation note
Verify your inverter, charger, wiring, and installation location before use.
Confirm that the compartment fits the 25.2 in L × 9.65 in W × 8.66 in H case, with clearance above the terminals for cable bend radius, terminal covers and inspection. The battery weighs about 110 lb (50 kg), so use two people or a lifting aid and lift by the end handles. Mount it upright and secure it with a tray, strap, bracket or battery box so it cannot slide or tip; never rely on the terminals or cables to restrain it. Tighten the terminal bolts securely without over-tightening the threaded inserts, place a DC-rated main fuse or breaker as close as practical to the battery positive terminal, and confirm polarity with a multimeter before the final connection. Do not hot-connect batteries, and pre-charge large inverters where required.

- Master battery-to-Victron GX CAN communication cable
-
Recommended Charging Settings
- Maximum Continuous Charge Current: 150A per battery, all charging sources combined
- Recommended Charge Current: Up to 62.5A (0.5C) per battery; up to 50% of bank capacity for parallel banks (125A for 2, 250A for 4, 500A for 8, 937.5A for 15), within charger, wiring and system limits
- Bulk/Absorption: 56.8V-57.6V
- Float Voltage: Disabled (preferred) or 54.0V-55.2V
- Temperature Compensation: 0 mV/°C (disabled)
- Equalization: Disabled; do not use lead-acid equalization, desulfation or repair modes
- Maximum Charge Voltage: 58.0V; do not program a charge voltage above 57.6V
- Charge Temperature Range: -30°C to 55°C (-22°F to 131°F) with internal heating; when the cells reach 0°C (32°F) the BMS stops charging and uses the incoming charge current to power the internal heater, never stored energy, and charging resumes automatically when the cells reach 5°C (41°F); the heater runs only while a charger is connected and supplying at least 0.5A
- Cold Weather: leave the charger connected and switched on so the heater can warm the cells, and make sure the charging source can supply at least 0.5A in the cold; solar charging stops at night, so the heater runs only while the panels are producing; discharging works down to -20°C (-4°F) without heating
- Charging Sources: 48V LiFePO4 battery chargers (such as the Epoch 48V 15A Lithium Battery Charger), MPPT or PWM solar charge controllers with a programmable or LiFePO4 profile, DC-to-DC chargers for alternator charging, and converters or inverter chargers that can be set to these values
- Victron chargers without a GX: program each Victron solar charge controller and inverter charger with a user-defined 48V LiFePO4 profile using the settings above (user manual section 10)
- Note: If a charger cannot be fully programmed, confirm its bulk/absorption voltage is within range and that equalization and temperature compensation are disabled. If a charger asks for absorption-time or end-current settings, avoid long lead-acid absorption periods. A charger below 62.5A is suitable; it simply takes longer.
Victron GX setup (Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX)
- Connect the CAN port of Battery 1 to the GX with the included master battery-to-Victron CAN cable. Make only one CAN connection per bank.
- Cerbo GX MK1: use the BMS-Can port; the GX detects the battery automatically.
- Cerbo GX MK2 or Ekrano GX: use the VE.Can 2 port and set its CAN-bus speed to 500 kbit/s.
- Turn DVCC on, with Shared voltage sense (SVS) and Shared temperature sense (STS) on.
- Select the CAN-LV battery under Battery monitor.
- With DVCC on, the GX applies the battery's charge voltage and discharge current limits, and the chargers' own absorption and float settings are overridden. The integrated shunt supplies state of charge, so a separate battery monitor is not required.
- If more length is needed, a standard Cat 7 Ethernet patch cable can be used between the battery's CAN port and the GX port.
Linking several batteries into one bank
- Make and check all power connections first, with chargers and loads switched off.
- Run a battery-to-battery communication cable from RS485-OUT on Battery 1 to RS485-IN on Battery 2, then from RS485-OUT on Battery 2 to RS485-IN on Battery 3, and so on down the chain.
- Connect only Battery 1's CAN port to the GX with the master battery-to-Victron CAN cable.
- The batteries select a master automatically, with no DIP switches or addresses to set, and the GX shows the linked bank as one battery.
- Fit the caps on all unused ports.

What comes in the box with the Epoch 48V 125Ah battery?
The box includes the 48125A-COMM battery and both communication cables: a battery-to-battery communication cable for linking RS485-OUT to the next battery's RS485-IN, and a master battery-to-Victron CAN cable for connecting the CAN port of Battery 1 (the first battery in the chain) to a Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX. Plan the power side separately: size the battery cables, lugs, fuses or breakers and busbars for your system's current, cable length and voltage drop, and charge with a 48V LiFePO4 charger.
Does the 48V 125Ah Essential battery work with Victron Cerbo GX and Ekrano GX?
Yes. It communicates with Victron GX devices over CAN-bus. On a Cerbo GX MK1, connect the battery's CAN port to the BMS-Can port and the GX detects it automatically. On a Cerbo GX MK2 or Ekrano GX, use the VE.Can 2 port, set its CAN-bus speed to 500 kbit/s, turn DVCC on with shared voltage sense and shared temperature sense on, and select the CAN-LV battery as the battery monitor. With DVCC on, the GX applies the battery's charge voltage and discharge current limits to the Victron chargers and inverter chargers, and the battery's integrated shunt supplies state of charge, so a separate battery monitor is not required.
How do I link several batteries into one bank?
Make and check all power connections first, with chargers and loads switched off. Then run a battery-to-battery communication cable from RS485-OUT on Battery 1 to RS485-IN on Battery 2, continue from RS485-OUT on Battery 2 to RS485-IN on Battery 3 and so on down the chain, and connect only Battery 1's CAN port to the GX with the master battery-to-Victron CAN cable. The batteries select a master automatically, with no DIP switches or addresses to set, and the GX shows the linked bank as one battery. Fit the caps on all unused ports.
How many batteries can I connect, and can I wire them in series?
Up to 15 matched 48125A-COMM batteries can be connected in parallel, for 1,875Ah and 96.00kWh at 51.2V nominal. Series connection is not approved for this model. Use batteries of the same age, condition and state of charge, fully charge each one before connecting it into the bank, fuse each battery, and use equal cable lengths and gauges to the busbars.
What size inverter can it run?
At 51.2V, the 150A continuous rating is about 7,680W of DC power before inverter losses, so size the system by the inverter's DC input current, not its AC output. The 300A rating covers start-up surges from inverters, motors and compressors for up to 10 seconds only; any load that lasts longer must stay at or below 150A per battery. Set the inverter's low-voltage shutdown above 41.6V so the inverter stops before the BMS disconnects the battery.
How long will it run my loads?
Epoch plans runtime on 80% of the 6,400Wh nominal energy, about 5,120Wh per battery. Runtime in hours is roughly 5,120Wh divided by the load in watts: about 10.2 hours at 500W, 5.1 hours at 1,000W, 1.7 hours at 3,000W and 1.0 hour at 5,000W. These are DC estimates at 25°C on a new, fully charged battery; inverter losses, cabling, temperature, battery age and duty cycle change real results. For a parallel bank, multiply by the number of batteries.
Can it charge in freezing weather?
Yes, with a charger connected. When the cells reach 0°C (32°F), the BMS stops charging and uses the incoming charge current to power the internal heater; charging resumes automatically when the cells reach 5°C (41°F). The heater runs only while a charger is connected and supplying at least 0.5A, and it never uses the battery's stored energy. Solar charging stops at night, so on solar alone the heater runs only while the panels are producing. Charging is rated from -30°C to 55°C (-22°F to 131°F) with internal heating, and discharging from -20°C to 55°C (-4°F to 131°F).
Is this battery waterproof?
No. This model is IP54 rated, meaning it is dust-protected and splash-resistant. It should not be submerged, pressure washed, or installed where standing water can collect around the case or terminals. Install it upright in a dry, ventilated, protected location, and keep the caps fitted on unused data ports.
What charger settings should I use?
Program every charging source for 48V LiFePO4: bulk/absorption 56.8V to 57.6V, float 54.0V to 55.2V or off, equalization disabled and temperature compensation at 0 mV/°C, and never program a charge voltage above 57.6V. The recommended charge current is up to 62.5A, and combined current from all sources must not exceed 150A per battery. Suitable sources include 48V LiFePO4 chargers such as the Epoch 48V 15A Lithium Battery Charger, solar charge controllers with a programmable or LiFePO4 profile, DC-to-DC chargers, and converters or inverter chargers that can be set to these values.
Can I use it in a golf cart?
Yes, where the motor controller's battery current stays within 150A continuous for one battery, and acceleration and hill-climbing peaks stay within 300A for no more than 10 seconds. It is a deep-cycle battery, not a cranking battery. Secure it upright against vibration and protect it from water spray, because IP54 is splash-resistant, not waterproof. Charge it with a 48V LiFePO4 charger, and confirm that the 25.2 × 9.65 × 8.66 in, 110 lb case fits the cart.
